Governmental Affairs Update – February 2015

Your Governmental Affairs committee began the New Year with a meeting on January 15th here at the chamber offices. We meet each month, with the exception of December on the third
Thursday of the month at 8 am.

This month, our committee discussed the possibility of participating in a one day trip to Tallahassee with the other Brevard County chambers to participate in Capitol Days, hosted by the Florida Chamber of Commerce. If you have any interest in more information about participating in this trip, please contact me at either stevenson@titusville.org or at 267-3036.

Brevard County is well represented in Tallahassee this year as Senate President is our senator, Andy Gardiner and the House of Representatives is led by Assemblyman Steve Crisafulli. With the growth at the port and the additional possibilities of expansion due to alternative fuel sources and the prospect of a logistic center for automobile distribution, and increased rail activity, Brevard County is positioned for significant economic development. Inventory for residential real estate is very limited. Commercial activity has also increased. The demolition of the Miracle City Mall has begun.

Join your Governmental Affairs Committee as we discuss all things happening on the city, county, state and federal levels.
