Rocket Launch: August 13, 2017 12:56 PM | SpaceX Falcon 9 CRS-12

August 13 @ 12:56 pm

 Kennedy Space Center

MISSION

Join us for launch viewing as SpaceX sends the Dragon vehicle on the Falcon 9 rocket to the International Space Station from Kennedy Space Center’s LC-39A! This historic launch pad was the site of the Apollo 11 Saturn V rocket launch that transported humans for the moon landing in 1969 and the site of the first and last space shuttle missions during the 30-year Space Shuttle Program. Now leased to SpaceX, LC-39A is the current site of Falcon 9 rocket launches.

CRS-12 is a resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS). This mission is the 12th resupply mission by SpaceX for NASA in support of NASA’s Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) program. Dragon will deliver supplies and science experiments to the crew aboard the ISS. The Falcon 9 rocket’s reusable first stage will attempt a controlled landing on Landing Zone 1 (LZ1) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
