Governmental Affairs Update – March 2015
Last month we reported about a trip being planned for early March to Tallahassee as part of the Florida Chamber Capitol Days. Since that time, the group planning the trip has rescheduled a trip to meet with our representatives until March 30-31. If you are interested in joining this group and being part of this trip to meet with legislators, please contact Marcia Gaedcke at the chamber office.
Issues discussed in our February meeting include the Community Conversation the City of Titusville planned as part of the budget process for next year. There was also discussion about a planned meeting to discuss the gap that exists Medicaid and the Health Care Act. Planning and Zoning in Titusville is reassessing some zoning assessments in Titusville that are no longer relevant to business in 2015. There was discussion within the group as to how changing codes change the overall picture of how the town wants to be known. Much is changing at Port Canaveral. With the approvals for the Liquid Nitrogen Facility, and the distribution plants at the south end of town, there is the question as to how products being transported from cargo ships coming into Port Canaveral will be transported to warehouses for distribution.
There will continue to be dialog about these issues in the upcoming months. If you are interested in joining our committee, please join us at 8 am on the third Thursday of the month. Our next meeting is scheduled for March 19.
