Governmental Affairs Update – July 2015

In lieu of our regular Governmental Affairs committee meeting this month, we welcomed former State Representative and former US Congressman Tom Feeney as our guest speaker. Tom Feeney is currently the president of Associated Industries of Florida. He took this opportunity to talk about his membership and how this organization was a leading force in support of the Healthy Florida Works and the Senate plan for extending health care coverage to one million working, uninsured Floridians. Associated Industries of Florida is a non- partisan group whose goals include rational procurement policies and economic prosperity. He addressed several issues of interest to attendees including then potential for Port Canaveral with the coming of larger container ships and the need for increased manufacturing in Florida as part of economic growth in the region.
