Governmental Affairs Update – August 2015

Our Governmental Affairs Committee did not meet in July but will meet on August 23rd here at the chamber at 8 am. If you are interested in attending, please feel free to join us.

Our chamber luncheon on August 12th was to have featured State Representative Tom Goodson (R) District 50 as the speaker. The State Legislature has again been called into special session. This session has been called to address the redistricting of 8 of the 27 House districts. A new map will be drawn and made public before the special session set to take place from August 10th to August 21st.

During that special session, legislators will be able to debate the proposed redistricting and make amendments. The Senate will convene in October to address redistricting on 28 of 40 Senate districts.

We look forward to discussing issues such as these at our next Governmental Affairs meeting. We discuss any issues that affect businesses and residents of the state of Florida.
