Education Committee Update – February 2016

The Education Committee held it’s monthly meeting on February 12, 2016. Topics for discussion were:

PITBOE: The PITBOE luncheon was held at LaCita on February 10, 2016, and was a huge success. There were 48 businesses nominated by our local schools. These businesses have each contributed to the schools in various ways throughout the year and were recognized with lunch and a plaque. There were so many honorees that the committee is considering a larger venue for next year.

OYA: Applications for the OYA $1000.00 scholarship have been mailed out to the students. Each student is asked to describe where they see themselves in 10 years. The essay is to be 500 words or less. Completed applications are to be returned by March 31st and a special committee will select the winner on April 8, 2016. Learn more about our current Outstanding Young Adults.
