Education Committee Update – May 2018

Outstanding Young Adults (OYA) applications will be sent to high schools this month. The Chamber will choose six students from North Brevard high schools – Astronaut, Space Coast and Titusville – as the eighteen finalists for the year. They will be honored at the Chamber luncheons throughout the year and will submit an essay to compete for the $1000 scholarship.

The Chamber will participate in Teacher Appreciation activities, honoring teachers at the high schools and their feeder schools – during the week of August 6, 2018. Chamber members and non-members are welcome to sponsor a breakfast or insert a brochure into the gift bags. More information is available at Operation Thank Our Teachers.

Chamber staff is researching and generating a list of college/ university and trade school contact information, to invite to College Night.  A few schools have already responded positively.

This is the last meeting of the school year. The next Education Committee meeting will take place on August 17, 2018, 9:00 am in the Chamber Boardroom.
