Governmental Affairs Update – May 2018

The Governmental Affairs Committee met on Thursday, May 17, 2018.  The committee, led by chairman Al Taylor (Coldwell Banker Coast Realty – Al Taylor), discussed the following:

  • Recently, Chamber President Marcia Gaedcke has made two trips to Washington DC on behalf of the Chamber. The first trip was part of an EDC trip with all four Brevard County Chambers represented. They shared a Consolidated Legislative Priorities with our representatives in Washington. Her second trip was to Washington to share with lawmakers the benefits of space exploration and its positive impact on local economies.  Citizens for Space is a grass roots effort to educate and inform members of Congress of the importance of funding and supporting our space program.
  • The committee is planning a Candidate Meet and Greet on July 31st at the Titusville Mall.  This event is open to the public – giving them an opportunity to speak with candidates prior to the 2018 primary.  Candidates for the city’s open seats as well as those running for election for county, state and federal offices have been invited.  This committee meets on the third Thursday of each month – except December – at 8:00 am.

The committee will next meet on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. at the Titusville Chamber. There is no additional fee for members to join.  Contact Pat Stevenson for additional information at stevenson@titusville.org.
