Governmental Affairs Update – October 2015

About 50 people participated in the survey the committee sent. The results were collated and the responses were reviewed. Some of the comments will be referred to the city as they are more pertinent to them. An issue arose coming from realtors that will be added to the document submitted to the board. Florida is the only state that requires sales tax be charged on rental properties. The realtors are looking to have this phased out. Manufacturers are looking to have the sales tax on new equipment eliminated.

The committee discussed the formation and our participation in Business Voice. This group will work to encourage people with business friendly agendas to run for public office.

A finalized document was approved that will be send to the Board as our 2016 Legislative Agenda.
