Carla McRae New Chamber Board Chair

GRANT-VALKARIA – Puneet “PK” Kapur, manager of the Holiday Inn Express in Palm Bay officially took over the chairmanship for the Greater Palm Bay Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday at an installation and awards ceremony at Up the Creek Farms in Grant-Valkaria.

Kapur assumes the role that had been held by Tarilyn Fazekas, Health First Medical Group.

Thursday’s event was the first of annual leadership changes for chambers of commerce across the Space Coast.

The Melbourne Regional Chamber of East Central Florida holds its office installation and Impact Awards ceremony at Heritage Isles in Viera Friday night while the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce holds its 48th Annual Gala underneath Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex on Jan. 22.

For the Melbourne Regional Chamber event, Julie Braga of Courtyard by Marriott, will be inducted as chairwoman, replacing Glen Chaney of Hayworth, Chaney & Thomas.

For the Cocoa Beach chamber, Joe Mayer of Lockheed Martin Corp. will replace Jeanna Merrifield, owner of Wild Ocean Seafood Market.

In North Brevard,at the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce, Carla McRae of Barn Light Electric, earlier this year assumed the role as chairwoman. Previously Billy Specht, of the Titusville Family YMCA held the position as the organization’s chairman.
