Ribbon-Cutting for Space Perspective’s Balloon Manufacturing Plant

August 22, 2023 – Space tourism marks a significant milestone today with the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Space Perspective’s balloon manufacturing facility at Space Coast Regional Airport.  The luxury rides to the edge of space will be hoisted quietly by a hydrogen-filled polyethylene balloon that will rise to 100,000 feet and expand to a teardrop shape 350 feet in diameter.

The space tourists will ascend slowly in a pressurized capsule that boasts 360 degree views, all while enjoying amenities such as cocktail bars, wi-fi and other amenities that the $125,000 price of admission affords. Obviously, many people see this as a bargain. The company has booked about 1,650 reservations so far, adding up to about $206 million in ticket sales.

The company will launch from the company’s ships on the sea, and future plans are to expand around the world, but the manufacturing will continue to have a home in Titusville.
