Space is HOT, Sector Continues Growth in Florida

April 16, 2021 – While other enterprises have retracted, private space industry has leaped forward.

 U.S. Labor Bureau of Statistics indicates significant space sector hiring increases, totaling more than 5000 employees added in 2020, with total private sector space employment now at 147,953 workers—the highest level since 2011, the year the Space Shuttle Program ended.  According to Space Florida, there are more than 130,000 people working in space and space-related industries and aligned activities in Florida.

And…you don’t have to be an engineer to join the ranks. Hiring is hot in a variety of aligned or feeder sectors, including manufacturing operations.

Regionally the following listed local job openings are representative of this thriving, high-growth sector: SpaceX – 50 openings and Blue Origin – 31 openings, while Boeing is looking for 400 new employees in various locations around the country.
