Forward Into the Past at the Pritchard House

October 4, 2022 – The calendar says fall is here and that signals the beginning of a series of events at The Pritchard House in downtown Titusville. The structure is a favorite of history buffs and a fine example of Queen Anne architecture from the late 1800s.

Arrange a tour at the house and get transported back to a simpler time by knowledgeable guides who dress the part and love to share their expertise on the house and the family who built it.

Since 1990 the house has been listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and the docents keep the place jumping with all sorts of happenings.

October gets things rolling by pulling handcrafted masterpieces out of storage to give you a closeup view of how things were. You can see quilts, linens and fine lace, hand-hooked rugs, vintage china, tea sets, toys and for the facially hirsute among you—mustache cups.

October 8th at 2:00 p.m. is the first iteration of the Homespun Tea Tour, the first in a series of this fine tradition. Not just a simple cuppa, this is more like the duke and duchess having high tea, with finger sandwiches, sweet cakes and other delicacies along with the requisite tea, served in style in the Pritchard House fine china.  A $35 dollar donation can have you drinking tea like a Lord (or a Lady).

The fifth of November finds the house hosting the Autumn Afternoon Tea and Tour at 2:00 p.m. (that must be tea-time, eh?).

On November 20th from 1 to 4 p.m. head to the Valiant Air Command & Warbird Museum for “Meet the MOB (Museums of Brevard). Reps from various museums will be on hand to answer all your questions.

December is the month where temperatures in Florida plummet to the mid-70s, so folks can dress up like Eskimos and enjoy the holiday season. It’s also the month when the MOB Annual Holiday Tour can take you to several of the historic homes in Brevard County, each of which will be decking their halls for your enjoyment. Tour dates include Dec. 2nd – 4th, Dec. 9th – 11th, and Dec. 16th -18th at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Additional tours of the Pritchard House can be scheduled during the month of December for $15.

During the annual Titusville Christmas Parade, (December 10th from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.) you can be sitting pretty at the Pritchard House by attending the Christmas Parade Porch Party. Ten seats are available on the upstairs porch for $50 or downstairs for $25. Watch the parade in style while munching on cookies and refreshments (will tea be served? Possibly.)

Good fun all season long in fine old style at the Pritchard House. Must dash, tea pot is whistling.

The cost of a regular tour is a $10 donation (unless otherwise noted), $5 for children 12 and under, and children under three years of age are free. Afternoon Tea events all begin at 2:00 p.m. and incur a $35 donation. The Pritchard House is a nonprofit organization and is always in need of volunteers.
