Proof We Live in a Cycling Town
August 15, 2020 – Playalinda Brewing Company’s Coast-to-Coast Adventure Ale has been launched.
The Coast-to-Coast Adventure Ale announcement says this release is the 1st of a series of cycling inspired brews that bring together two of Florida’s favorite things, the exploration of cycling in Florida and Florida Craft beer.
Coast-to-Coast Adventure Ale label illustrator, Ross Piper, architect by day and artist by night, is also (not surprising) an avid cyclist. And what better place to be than this cycle-friendly, nature-surrounded community, Titusville, on Florida’s famed Space Coast–named an official Florida Trail Town in 2018.
Brewery owners, Bryan & Donna Scott, and Ross Piper discovered their connection in a shared love of craft beer, for the outdoors and cycling. Piper wanted to design something that could help others gain a greater love for cycling by highlighting one of the greatest biking trails in Florida, the Coast-to-Coast Trail. For those who might not be familiar with this extensive trail, it is a 250-mile biking trail that connects the St. Pete to Titusville, and eventually, out to Playalinda Beach.
The Coast-to-Coast Trail is just one of three trails that converge in Titusville. Heading north, you can catch the St Johns River to Sea Loop Trail. Along the eastern seaboard, from Maine to Key West, is the 3000 mile East Coast Greenway.
Brew Master, Ron Raike, is also a cycler, often using his custom bicycle for his morning commutes to the brewery. The bike on the artwork is sketched to resemble Ross’ custom painted Allied Cycle Works – Able gravel bike. Hand drawn, from the palm trees, down to the script, this can is an adventure in itself. You may already recognize the art of Ross Piper in his custom-painted cycling shoes, helmets and bikes. And the brew? Coast-to-Coast Adventure Ale is an easy drinking copper ale ideal for after a long ride, says the brewery.
So…get on your bike, hit the trails, and then lean back at one of two Playalinda locations, in historic downtown, or at Brix on U.S. 1.
